Guitarist John Lake (Sandy Road, Snakeye and many others) has opened the Bluebird Cafe at the corner of Agricola and West Streets in Halifax.

The cafe is opened from 8:00 AM to 11:00 PM except Monday and is an alcohol-free venue.

The cafe is a place for songwriters to play their acoustic based music. There are two differences from other establishments: The Ssshh! rule which strictly prohibits conversation and dancing during performances and an "in the round" format, where 3 or 4 artists take turns playng four songs each.
